Debut Biotech / DEINDE
Challenge
Debut Biotech had cracked the science—a proprietary fermentation platform capable of producing rare, hard-to-manufacture bioactive ingredients at commercial scale. But breakthrough biotechnology doesn't sell itself. The company needed to cross a difficult bridge: from ingredient supplier to desirable consumer brand, without a playbook for doing it.
Solution
I built and led the company's innovation function from the ground up: designing not just the process, but the culture, rituals, and operating model that made a cross-functional startup of 30 capable of moving fast and thinking boldly.
The innovation management system I architected blended human-centered design, agile sprints, and stage-gate methods, taking concepts from early discovery through feasibility, desirability, and viability to commercial launch. The result was DEINDE, a biotech beauty brand with a clear point of view, a compelling narrative, and products that could actually reach consumers.
Result
DEINDE launched to widespread recognition—named to TIME100's most influential companies and awarded Fast Company's Innovation by Design. A multimillion-dollar brand built from scratch, at the frontier of biotech and beauty.
